The '1914 generation' doctrine change, back in 1995, did me in big time!
Never been the same since, and don't think it'll ever quite the same ever again.

there are lots of outrageous things that have happened to each of us in our longer or shorter association with the jay-dubs.
but it's amazing sometimes what teeny things have been the final straw.. being raised as a jw, i swallowed most stuff whole my entire life.
then, as a teen began to question some things, but waited patiently for jehovah to straightened things out.

i just read the listeners post about baptisms at the district conventions and didn't want to disrupt the thread.
i'm curious, why would someone allow their child to attend the kh or district convention and possibly be pressured into getting baptized?

These are the type of nonsense people whose children become the easiest targets of abusers because they're not supervised and rather deposited into anyone's hand in the name of 'free babysitting'.
Of course, if anything happens to their 'precious child' while the 'free babysitting' is going on, they're more than ready to blame the WBTS when the real reason why their child has been abused or coerced in any way, shape or form is because the PARENTS/GUARDIANS have neglected their responsibility.

i don't post much and this is the first thread i've ever started so please bear with me.
i wanted to give my obsevations on the 2005 "godly obedience" district convention.if the things i say are redundant, i apologize.
anyways, i was coerced into going by my daughter.
I'm sure not looking forward to this boredom fest. I must attend, though, for now.
I'll go Saturday and Sunday, I guess. It's somewhat mentally painful to sit through a whole session these days. I suffer enough as it is when attending a regular meeting, and much more so when I have to sit a whole day and listen to the same old thing.

.
i was concerned about my friend and worried as they hadn't returned my calls or emails, so i thought i would travel to see him, and find out if my bad feeling was nothing to worry about.. he had died and i will miss him, i knew, my insides knew and it hurts.. he was my secret and it seems to hurt more as i have no-one to share the grief with.
Happehanna,
Sorry about your loss.

i amlooking for advice.
before getting married, my wife was slim and took care of herself.
after the wedding however, she started to eat much more and not exercise.
Tell her exactly how you feel.
Help her by making a plan with her to watch your diet and exercise together.

my whole family is in the troof.
i am at a point were i want to present them a book on cults.
i have nothing to lose as they have dis-owned me for years and have only recently came back into my life as a result of my moms illness ( alzeimers ) these people are driving me nuts!!!
Apostanator,
I feel your pain. Most of my relatives are JWs, and such the nice bunch of people that I really enjoy outside of their JWism. Therefore, in order to keep communication with them, I play their game and stay semi-JW, otherwise they'd all alienate me.
I have high hopes for reform in this regard, since the die-hard JW generation is literally dying off.

which of those 20 posibbilies does seem the most logical for the end of the world?
natural disasters
1. asteroid impact.
The end of the world is different for everybody, depending on how we all die.
Death is the end of the world.
I'm trying not to have it happen like that, but according to my family history, the end of my world will come in the form of a stroke or a heart attack.
Thus far, I've lived quite well. So, bring it on!

i've been thinking about this for a little while and it appears that this is a possibility.
although i cant say that there is solid evidence, it looks as if the clues are there:.
- clandestine involvement with the un as an ngo.
The WBTS is a religious BUSINESS. Lead by imperfect men. Similar to many other Christian religions.

for example: we had a 'faithfull' brother getting older and confused.
when something did not really went as he liked it (didn't get the answer etc) he shouted very loudly 'god doom me in the hell!
one time i had to do the closing prayer on the midweek meeting.
One of these days, while at the Service meeting, I was really tired plus bored out of my mind and a yawn came out really loud and many people turned their heads and gave me wicked stares.
Sorry!!! I didn't think it'd come out so loud. I caught some laughing, though, as if I had read their minds.
